Antique Furniture Restoration

Antique Furniture Restoration

West Wiltshire Restoration is a small local family run business established for over 43 years in to its second generation. We offer a professional and friendly service with over 112 years of antique furniture restoration experience between the three of us in our Chippenham workshop. We specialise in antique furniture restoration and French polishing of furniture dating from 1700 to the early 20th century, also having the ability to work on modern furniture.

We have a vast knowledge of the antique furniture trade and antique furniture in general. For example, if feet or handles are missing we could ensure that it is replaced with the correct style. We stock and use only period timber to include oak, walnut, mahogany, satin wood, and pine. We also have the ability to make veneers from our stock. We also keep a large amount of original brass fittings. Typical antique furniture restoration work may include:

  • Missing veneers
  • Loose joints
  • Replacement desk leathers
  • Damaged drawer runners
  • Re-polishing/reviving
  • Marquetry/inlay
  • Carcass repairs

In all Instances we pride ourselves on invisible repairs to your antique furniture.

With a long and trusted client base of antique furniture trade and public alike, we are also used by 3 BBC antique roadshow experts and recommended by 6 local antique furniture auction houses plus many antique dealers. We are proud of giving a lifetime guarantee on all structure work.

Antique furniture repairs

At West Wiltshire Restoration, we specialise in antique furniture repairs for whether you are an antique furniture dealer, a private collector or have just acquired that special family heirloom in need of some TLC.

We use tried and tested traditional antique furniture repair techniques and skills. We use a lot of our own made waxes and polishes using our own tradition blends and recipes.

We have the ability to match any carving, wood turning, veneer or moulding. All of which we are experts at colouring and toning to match the original patina to make your antique furniture repairs as invisible as possible.

Our customers often request that their antique furniture is not restored to look new, but to have the appearance that their furniture has been well looked after for many years and not that “fresh out off the workshop look”. At West Wiltshire Restoration our antique furniture restorers have the skills to achieve the desired effect to suit your furniture needs.
